The National Weather Service has announced changes to the current set of NIDS (Level III) products which are transmitted over NOAAPORT and over the National Weather Service Telecommunications Gateway. These products are slated to replace lower resolution data in the coming future.
New Level III Products
The NWS will begin transmitting several new advanced resolution products at selected radar sites across the United States in February 2010. The order in which the NWS releases the data from these sites is currently not known. Weather Decision Technologies intends to take advantage of these newer, advanced resolution products and will be integrating them into several of our legacy systems. Additionally, these advanced resolution products will be utilized in certian Level II Mosaic product generation when primary Level II feeds (CRAFT) are not available.
Customers Affected
Only select customers will be affected by these changes. Weather Decision Technologies will be working with individual customers for this change, and no action is currently required by customers and clients.
