The NWS has begun sending Level-II data for the four WSR-88Ds in Hawaii (PHKM, PHMO, PHWA and PHKI).
Hawaiian Level-II data
The current Hawaiian Mosaic is constructed from Level-III data. A new mosaic will be created using higher resolution Level-II data. The current Level-III mosaic will become a backup mosaic in case the Level-II data feed goes down. There is currently no time frame as of yet on when the new higher resolution mosaic will be available. The plan is to make this available in the next 2-3 months.
Level-II data will be disseminated from eight more DOD sights in June. Data will be sent in a recombined format (legacy resolution; 1 degree azimuth, 1000 m radial).
